Guitar F/X Licks - Wednesday - Week 1 |
Today's lick features the tremolo effect. This processing was popular in the late 1950s and early 1960s when every major amp manufacturer offered the effect in their products. Duane Eddy, Link Wray and Bo Diddley are three prominent proponents of the tremolo effect. The lick is based on the familiar "shave-and-a-haircut" rhythm pattern popularized by Diddley. It is played in E in two registers: high in 12th position triads and low in first-position open chords. The tremolo controls are set with the speed and intensity at around 75% for a rhythmic pulsating effect.
