British Blues Rock - Monday - Week 5 |
Today's lick is a classic British blues-rock phrase. This one is played in the higher register of the guitar in the key of A over Mixolydian changes: A-G-D. Note the use of both the bluesy string bends and the sweeter country-flavored sound of the A Major Pentatonic Scale (A-B-C#-E-F#). The rolling 16th-note riff which begins the lick is a characteristic momentum-gathering line that pushes toward the high string bends and the contrasting slower sultry vibe of the final section.
