70s Funk Blast - Wednesday - Week 4 |
Here's a classic but unusual funk line from the `70's. It's in 6/4 time which means you'll count (and tap your foot) six quarter notes every bar. Even though it's in an "odd time" the phrase still grooves. The single notes are from the C7 scale (F major) with a "blue note" (Eb) added for color. The notes double what the bass plays. The chord punches are on a C9. This particular 9th chord position is a very useful. Jam Track #5 is the 6/4 groove.
