70s Funk Blast - Thursday - Week 3 |
Today's funk lick is the rhythm part for yesterdays bass doubled funk line. Most of the part is an E9 with a few punches at the end. It's best to play this part by keeping your picking hand moving up and down in 16th notes accenting the chords. Intentionally miss the strings with your pick on the non-notes but keep your hand moving like a metronome. Since this is a 4 bar phrase, play the first bar 3 times before playing bar 2. The four "punch" chords in the 2nd bar are all dom7#9's moving up in 1/2 steps. The last chord is F9. Listen to yesterdays lick and then give it a go on today's Jam Track #4. Check out the audio clip of the actual groove.
