The following bluegrass lick starts by playing a D6 interval on the 1st and 2nd strings, then playing a hammer-on using the 2nd string (3rd & 5th frets). You continue this lick by playing a pull-off on the 2nd string (5th to 3rd fret), then ending the phrase with a pull-off on the 4th fret to open note on the 3rd string.
