This John Lee Hooker style lick is based on the A Min Pentatonic scale. You can play the first part of this lick (A 5) by barring your 1st finger on the 3rd and 4th strings. This allows you to use the 2nd finger to play notes on the lower strings. Try to fingerpick this lick to produce a mellower tone.
