Guitarists Who Shaped the 80s - Friday - Week 4 |
Today's Lick of the Day is in the style of guitarist Angus Young from the band AC/DC. Angus played with lots of volume and intensity keeping close to the minor pentatonic scale to form his signature blues licks. In the example below you'll play a B minor pentatonic lick. The fourth note of this phrase is grabbed at the 9th fret by your 3rd finger and bent up a whole step. Hold it there and continue to strike the note while you slowly release the bend. This takes a little bit of practice as you need to control your bend without adding vibrato. Add heavy and quick vibrato to all the other notes that are held out.
