In today's example, you'll slide a series of power chords around the neck. A power chord is made up of two different notes, the root of the chord, and a fifth above it. This is probably the most common type of chord used in rock guitar. The chord name used in notation for a power chord looks like this: E5, D5 or G5. The letter tells you what the root is and the 5 tells you that it's a power chord made up of the root and 5th. To slide the power chord around, strike the chord with your pick and quickly slide to the next fret location without striking again. The term for this technique is called a legato slide.
