Today's Lick Of The Day can help you get the sound and style of guitarists Jeff Beck and Steve Vai. Here you will take another two finger, two-string shape and slide it up the neck. Using the 3rd and 2nd string, the riff crosses over both minor and major pentatonic notes. By combining notes from those two pentatonic scales, the riff ends up sounding like it's going from inside the key to outside the key.
