Riffs You can Use - Part 19
Lyle:
I've got a few simple riffs to show you today.
Lyle: This riff is something that is stuck in my
head. I keep messing with this riff which is based off the F#7add11 chord. The
riff I'm talking about is found throughout the MP3 sample above and is played
right at the intro:
Lyle: I
have an echo set at 1200ms for the effect.
Lyle: I
created several riffs to jam along with the main lick. I thought I'd show them
all to you...Here's the first one:
Lyle:
Here's a basic jam track you can use to play these riffs with:
Lyle:
Here's another riff that is played at the same time as riff 1. I used multiple
tracks to layer the riffs together.
Lyle:
Riff 3 is a simple blues type riff:
Lyle:
Riffs 1, 2, and 3 used the same tone preset as the intro riff, but with the
delay/echo turned off.
Lyle: For the next two riffs turn the delay back
on:
Lyle:
Riff 5 is a variation of riff 4, plus the intro riff:
Lyle:
Listen to this next jam track, it has all 5 riffs being played at the same time.
Each riff is panned a little different in the stereo field.
Lyle:
Here's a longer jam track with all the riffs in it:
Lyle:
Since the jam is centered around the F#7 chord, the F# Mixolydian mode is good
to improvise with:
dever: because
they both have a b3 and b7?
Lyle: The Mixolydian has a maj3rd and a
b7.
Support: oh right
Support: I knew that
<g>
Steve:
I didn't.
Lyle: I made a melody from notes in this scale:
Lyle:
That's about all the riffs I have to show you this week.
chuck: we
want more
dever:
thanks Lyle
Ace:
the notes at the end are harmonics?
Lyle: Yes, the notes ( ) are harmonics
Lyle:
Any questions before I have to go?
Steve: I'm good. Thanks, this has been a
blast.....
Ace:
I'll need to work on this more
Lyle: Cool. That's all for now. Hope you enjoyed
it and see you next time!
Steve: Thanks again.....Adios
Ace: great, thanks Lyle
Lyle: welcome, see you again soon, stay
tuned!
