Riffs You can Use - Part 15
Lyle:
Good evening, how is everyone?
Lyle: In this lesson I have another funk style
riff to show you. The rhythm riff reminds me of something Joe Satriani might
have played:
ace: doing good
david: good
Lyle: It's based off a Gm triad to a
Gm6:
Lyle: Here's a jam track with the rhythm guitar in
it:
Lyle: To get that rhythm guitar tone, try using a
strat style guitar with a clean amp setting. Select the 2nd position on the
5-way pickup switch, which turns on the bridge and middle pickups on the guitar.
I call that the funky setting.
Lyle: My favorite scales to use against a jam
track like this are the Gm blues and G Dorian, which is a minor
scale.
Lyle: I
made a solo, which is in the Lesson Sample, from these two
scales.
Lyle:
Here's a video of the whole thing:
Lyle:
That should keep you busy for awhile. Several riffs for you to learn and use in
your own jams.
Lyle: Any questions?
ace:
Dorian is minor blues with 2 and 4
added?
Lyle: The Dorian is 1, 2, b3, 4, 5, 6,
b7
Lyle:
The minor blues is: 1, b3, 4, b5, 5, b7
Lyle: The minor pentatonic is: 1, b3, 4, 5,
b7
ace: so
Dorian is minor blues with 2, 4, and 6
added
Lyle: Dorian doesn't have a b5, but the minor
blues does.
ace:
oh, right
Lyle: they all have 4ths in
it.
Lyle:
That's all I have for this lesson. Hope you found something new to work
on.
david:
great, thanks Lyle!
ace: TY
BB: thanks so
much
Lyle: Welcome! Have a great week. See you same
time next Monday!
