Psychedelic 60s - Friday - Week 3 |
Psychedelic '60s - Jazz/Blues Influences Today's lick was inspired by Wes Montgomery's "Tear It Down." I used this lick in a few songs I wrote called "Snake Rhythm Rock" and "Life is Like That." The lick basically starts in the Eb Major scale pattern with an added b3 (flat 3rd), the b3 gives the phrase a cool major blues sound. The end of the lick shifts down one half-step to the D7#9 chord that you might recognize as the chord used by Jimi Hendrix in "Purple Haze."
